CARLSBAD VILLAGE ART & ANTIQUE MALL brings together the finest antique and collectible values from independent dealers, just two blocks north of Carlsbad Village Drive at The Mural Buildings, 2752 State St. Featuring 15,000-square feet of select consignments of art, antiques, decor and gifts from more than 100 dealers; vendors spaces are available for monthly rental.

Former USMC officer and restaurant industry executive Bill Ostrie, along with his wife Evo, opened their family-operated Carlsbad Village Art & Antique concept in 1999.

"I really enjoy going down to the antique mall and browsing around for old treasures. This is not a swap meet so you won't find bargain pricing. It's more antique and you'll pay a little more for the distressed and worn look. Always a good time but give yourself plenty of time because there...

Andy's Barber Shop is a one man operation located in the heart of Escondido's downtown area. I have owned the shop since 1992. My gray parrot, named Blackjack, is always ready to greet you outside the door. During my open hours its first come, first served but I'm always glad to come in a little early or stay a little late to accommodate your schedule. I feel that my barber shop captures the essence of a bygone era that's becoming hard to find.

"Andy never has a bad hair day! What I mean by that is, HE IS CONSISTENTLY GOOD. There are plenty of barbers here but they are hit or miss. I am not a picky guy either. Just GO TO ANDY. You will never be disappointed." -- Wayne

"After going to many of the barbershops on Grand Avenue over my first 15 years after moving to Escondido, I found Andy Granger after an article about...

"I went there w my wife for our anniversary. Big difference from last year- the warm vibe is there as soon as you walk in. I read about the general manager / sommelier "geno" and there he is at the front walking us to the table. He selected all of our wine which were perfectly paired with the food. Even my wife who isn't a big wine drinker enjoyed it. The server Travis took care of food and service, everything was very detailed oriented and I will definitly come back..." OPENTABLE

In a city with 23,000 Latino residents accounting for 37 percent of the population, La Fe, which means “the faith” in Spanish, has a big hold as the only Tortilleria in town.

“The people in the area enjoy the ability to walk here which is a definite plus,” said owner Hoxsie Smith. “The city envisioned this as an area with residences and businesses in close proximity so you could live and work next door and not have to use a car. Ninety percent of the employees at our restaurant live just around the block.”

La Fe has been in San Marcos for more than 20 years in one form or another. It’s 25 employees produce 2,000 to 3,000 dozen flour tortillas and an equal amount of corn tortillas daily, Monday to Friday. Two delivery trucks and independent distributors take the tortillas across North County, into the city of San Diego...
