If you live in Rancho Santa Fe and have a child who enjoys singing, Kids Korps needs you! They are currently looking for children between nine and eighteen years old to participate in some simple choreographed dance moves for a “Giving Tree” song performance. The performance is for the Kids Korps Fundraiser Gala on Friday, May 6th and Rancho Santa Fe residents are invited to attend. Children need not be Kids Korps members to participate, but will receive volunteer hours for their rehearsals and performance time. Those participating should be confident and comfortable performing in front of a large audience.
Current scheduled rehearsals are: Saturday, March 26 – 2:30 to 3:30p.m., Monday, April 4 – 4 to 5 p.m., Monday, April 11 – 4 to 5 p.m., Monday, April 18 – 3:30 to 4:30p.m., Saturday, April 23 – 4 to 5 p.m., and Monday, May 2 – 3:30 to 4:30p.m. The performance will be on Friday, May 6
th and children are asked them to arrive at the Grand Del Mar by 6 p....March 24, 2011 (La Mesa) – The La Mesa Village Merchants Association invites you to step back in time this Sunday, March 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the La Mesa Antique Street Faire.
Once a year, La Mesa Boulevard is closed and antique dealers from far and wide set out their wares. Reminiscent of an old fashioned Midwest flea market. The event also includes live music and entertainment. All restaurants, coffee houses and pubs in La Mesa’s century-old downtown village prepare special fare for the occasion. Stores are open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the event.

College applications, future employment, and even a feeling of self-satisfaction are all benefits that evolve from volunteering in your local community. The Rancho Santa Fe Community Center will train high school volunteers on what it takes to become a tutor as they mentor children in elementary school.
Rancho Santa Fe’s Helen Woodward Animal Center will be having a special birthday party next week. On Saturday, March 26
th , beginning at 3 p.m., the twin foals, Sunny and Angel will be celebrating their first birthday. March 7, 2011 (San Diego) – A federal judge has cancelled a public trial challenging Sunrise Powerlink. The trial was slated to begin today in downtown San Diego, but instead the judge has notified plaintiffs that he will be ruling based on the record. The decision comes as a disappointment to Powerlink opponents, who say they looked forward to having their day in court.

Rancho Santa Fe Little League will celebrate Opening Day on Sunday, March 6
th . If you live in Rancho Santa Fe, or an adjoining neighborhood, please come and join in the festivities.Opening Day in Rancho Santa Fe is a unique celebration and kicks off with an Opening Day Carnival and Parade, complete with the Rancho Santa Fe fire engine! Beginning at 11:30 a.m., uniformed baseball players and coaches, community leaders, and other Rancho Santa Fe residents will line up at Rancho Santa Fe School to lead the parade through town, passing Rancho Santa Fe homes and residents on the way.
Following the parade, the carnival will commence with a super inflatable obstacle course and jumper, music, and carnival style games. Food will be available for sale, along with the activities.
