SHAME OF RANCHO SANTA FE - 118 "Farms" in 92067 Zip Code received $5.3 MILLION in WELFARE

SHAME SHAME SHAME: AN AH-HA RANCHO SANTA FE NEWS INVESTIGATION...

(Photo: This is Del Dios Farm at Del Dios Highway and Camino Del Norte. DD Farm is one of only five actual farming operations in the 92067 Zip code. They received no federal subsidies. However, some 118 "farming operations" claimed 92067 as their headquarters and received almost $5.3 million in federal farm subsidies since 1995.)

THE SHAME OF RANCHO SANTA FE -- 118 "Farms" in the 92067 Zip Code have received $5.28 MILLION in Federal Farm Subsidies since 1995. Give back the money!

Did you know that Rancho Santa Fe had 118 farms in the 92067 zip code?

Let us repeat this. Rancho Santa Fe has 118 farms, according to the 2011 Federal Farm Subsidy Database.

That database shows 118 Rancho Santa Fe farms received $5,287.853 in federal commodity subsidy payments from 1995-2010.

How many of these "farmers" voted for Republican denial of benefits for poor people along with tax breaks for the wealthy? This is federal welfare for wealthy people. SHAME.

We all know damn well there are not, and never have been, 118 farms in the 92067 area. There are five farms. So, all these people collecting federal tax dollars for NOT growing crops around Rancho Santa Fe should be called out and IMMEDIATELY give back the money either to help balance the budget or to provide needed benefits for food stamps and health care for poor people. We will follow up with many of these "farmers" in coming days.

What follows is the 2011 Farm Subsidy Database for Rancho Santa Fe courtesy of the Environmental Working Group. For more, visit http://www.ewg.org/. Also, check the attached pdf file for more on the skewed priorities of farm subsidies in California...

Click on the links for more information. Such as the fact Breadbasket, the #1 abuser, received $189,000 for not growing wheat. Lot of wheat lands by Village Market maybe? SHAME! Longtime RSF landlord and GOP activist Marion Dodson received $122,000+. SHAME!

Shame on You
Attn: Dan Weisman - Your reporting is flawed - badly flawed.
Our farmland is in South Dakota not Rancho Santa Fe. You had better check on information about farm programs before you write articles like this one. You don't have to live on a farm to own a farm and you don't have to live on a farm to apply and receive a government subsidy if you qualify for one. You don't have to live in Rancho Santa Fe to have a post office box here either. Shame on you for doing a poor job of research and then reporting shameful accusations.

I know it's in South Dakota, but the point is welfare for the wealthy is wrong and hypocritical
I looked through the records completely, but was making the larger point that it is a disgrace that people like you who would take hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal welfare and oppose progarms to aid the poor and disadvantaged and call President Obama a "socialist." That is the shame and the true meaning of calling you out. The South Dakota part was irrelevant to the point of your hypocrisy.

Subsidies are not welfare
I suggest that the writer needs to do some solid research before writing silly articles like this.

Subsidies are provided by the federal government as a safety net to agricultural producers to help them manage the variations in agricultural production and profitability from year to year - offsetting such things as bad weather, poor market prices, and other factors - while ensuring a stable food supply.

There are five main types of subsidy payments and of those two, Direct Payments and Marketing Loans, are probably counterproductive and might be seen as money poorly spent. The other three are generally in place to offset unpredictable events, which if not provided would in many cases mean the farms failing.

If the writer can identify which of the 92067 connected (connected by PO Box) farms received which type of payments he would be more credible but instead has taken the lazy approach of smearing everyone who happens to use a PO Box address in 92067 and received a subsidy.

I suggest that the writer not quit his day job

Federal farm subsidies for people with fake farming operations is fraud
This list of 118 farming operations with hundreds of bogus fake farmers stealing millions of dollars goes to the heart of what is evil in America today. These people steal federal funds -- legally, but immorally -- then turn around and oppose health care for Americans as "socialistic" cut money for food stamps and assistance to the poor and contribute some of their ill-gotten gains to crooked politicians like Duke Cunningham or Brian Bilbray and the current tea partiers who want to destroy the world economy to accomodate their greed. The fact is 99 percent of these people who use Rancho Santa Fe as their postal drop and/or live here are not farmers and not growing anything. Their paper farms are in South Dakota, Montana, et al just like giant corporations dodge taxes with offshore tax havens. Legal, but morally corrupt. Hey, slavery was legal before 1860, so in 1859 your reply would be the author does not know his facts and slavery is OK, correct? The days of your whining and hypocrisy are over. The database is a valuable tool for all who want to know what is going on and provided here. What you call "smear" is simply the correct information. Be man, or woman enough in the case of... to deal with the truth.
