Eggs But How? Hens Only, No Roosters Allowed on 20,000-square foot Solana Beach properties

Eggs But How? Hens Only, No Roosters Allowed on 20,000-square foot Solana Beach properties as residents try to allow home range chickens for almost anyone...

Chicken feathers? Chicken S***? Chicken fight at Solana Beach. In a reversal of the commonly held theory that only poor people keep chickens at urban homes due to its class implications, you have to be wealthy to have LIVE chickens at Solana Beach. Cluck cluck. Chickens are allowed only on lots more than 20,000-square foot in nature. Some chicken-pickin' residents want to change that and let most people have chickens. Really? Rise and shine...

Only Poor People?
What an article! Maybe snobs think only poor people want to raise their own food. I have been doing that for half my life and I am not poor. If you want clean food the only way is to raise it yourself. If you don't want to eat chickens that have been tortured all their lives, raise them yourself. If you want your children to think food comes from the land, not the grocery store, raise your own food. It does not matter your income status, only your concern for your own health.

Trickle-down environmentalism?
That's like saying give tax breaks to the wealthy because they are people, too and it's only fair they pay the same percentage as poor people. Would you deny that poor people in a poor area -- and I've seen it in New Orleans and Tampa for example -- would be far more likely to raise chickens and farm animals at an urban evironment than wealthy people? Come on man.

Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road?
Please look at what newspaper published this article. RSF what else can you expect from them...
Unbelievable the lack of knowledge by the writer. Eggs, But How? You have got to be kidding me! I think 4H would have done this writer some good.
